Hilaria Baldwin pens 'lovely' letter to newborn daughter Ilaria: 'I love you always'
Hilaria Baldwin has a sentimental message for her newborn daughter.
On Wednesday, the 38-year-old took to Instagram with a short video of the newest addition to her family, Ilaria, whom she welcomed earlier this week with her husband, Alec Baldwin. She paired the post an emotional letter, opening up about the trials of motherhood, the meaning behind their shared name and feminism.
"Our names mean 'happy,' and to share this connection with you feels like an honour to me," she penned, before candidly admitting that the transition from six to seven children has left her and her husband "exhausted, trying to juggle" the added responsibilities.
"Trying to be as good parents as possible to your siblings, trying to be as present and active as possible, while also trying to have compassion for my body that I just had a baby," Baldwin shared. "It’s a hard balance and one that I don’t think I do very well, since it pulls at my heart in such a painful way when I feel I’m not giving enough to all my children."
Baldwin explained that the "mom guilt" she has been feeling has inspired her to "want to do my very best to change it for all women, including you and your sisters."
"I named you in honour of happiness and the mothers in our family who came before you," she went on. "Our name means 'happy' in all languages."
To live up to their name, Baldwin plans on leaning "into happiness" and choosing "warm and supportive people because there are so many," while also trying to "dial down the negativity to absorb as little of it as possible."
"May we live happy, Ilaria, and may our names always be a strong, feminist reminder. I love you always," she concluded.
Baldwin's moving letter quickly garnered praise and supportive messages from fans.
"Never doubt yourself as a mamma. You have the most beautiful relationships with all of your children. You not only will raise strong women, but you will raise men that will support strong women," one fan commented.
"That guilt is so common whether you have two, three or seven kids," another person assured Baldwin. "Just remember this though, the best part is that little one and her siblings get extra love from each other, as well. So when you feel like you're giving them a void from you, all of their siblings are filling that for you with love. That's the best part about big families."
One Instagram user chimed in: "Beautiful note to your new baby. So good to remember to treasure every moment, even the hard ones! Motherhood is such a gift."
"Dear Ilaria, you have the kindest, strongest mama," another commenter added.
"Happy, strong, beautiful ladies," someone else wrote.
Last week, Baldwin announced Ilaria's arrival with another Instagram Reel for her more than 970,000 followers. The video included moments after she gave birth, as well as her other children meeting their new sibling for the first time.
"She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true, Ilaria Catalina Irena," Baldwin captioned the video. "Both she and I are happy and healthy. Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home."
