These hotels in Miami Beach, Key West, Fort Lauderdale named best in U.S. by Tripadvisor
Eight hotels in Miami Beach, Key West, Miami and Fort Lauderdale were just named among the best hotels in the country.
Tripadvisor has released its 2023 Travelers Choice Best of the Best Awards for hotels, highlighting properties in 10 different categories, including two new ones: Best Hotels for Sleep and Best Hotels With Spas. The other categories are Top Hotels, Small Hotels, All-Inclusives, B&Bs/Inns, Luxury, Family-Friendly, Hottest New Hotels and Out of the Ordinary Hotels.
As usual, the elegant, old-world Acqualina Resort & Residences in Sunny Isles Beach earned top honors, as the No. 2 luxury hotel in the U.S. and the No. 5 top overall hotel in the U.S.
Acqualina has earned many prestigious awards. In its 2023 Best Hotels rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked the resort, known for its stunning oceanfront views and award-winning spa, as the best hotel and best resort in the country. It also earned a Forbes Five-Star rating.
CEO and partner Deborah Yager Fleming thanked loyal guests for their endorsements.
“We are thrilled with the recent announcement from Tripadvisor and humbled by our guests who feel empowered to share their positive guest experiences on Tripadvisor,” she said in a statement. “Five-star service and satisfaction are our top priorities, and I’m thrilled for our incredible team, whose never-ending hard work is recognized with this award.”

Top family hotels
Two oceanfront spots earned praise for their focus on offering family-friendly service and accommodations. Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club in Fort Lauderdale was named the No. 1 family hotel in the US. and No. 18 in the world. The Santa Maria Suites Hotel in Key West was the No. 2 family hotel in the U.S.
Top luxury hotels
In addition to Acqualina Resort, two other Miami Beach hotels made the luxury list, Faena Miami Beach (14) and Setai Hotel Miami (21).
Hottest new hotel
The Elser Hotel & Residences in downtown Miami was named one of the best new hotels in the country (9).
Top small hotel
The awards don’t merely reward the big luxury spots. The Gardens Hotel in Key West was named the No. 6 Small Hotel in the U.S.
Top overall hotels in the U.S.
In addition to Acqualina’s ranking of No. 5, The Capitana Key West was named the No. 15 top hotel in the country. Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club in Fort Lauderdale was ranked No. 18.
The best hotel in the world, according to Tripadvisor users, is Rambaggh Palace in Jaipur India, a former palace from 1835 known as “The Jewel of Jaipur.”
The luxurious Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah, Georgia, known for its rooftop bar and Southern hospitality, was voted the No. 1 hotel in the U.S.
Sarah Firshein, head of editorial at Tripadvisor, said in a statement that the awards are rich in diversity.
“An opulent palace in Jaipur topped the charts, while hotels ranging from a ‘glamping’ retreat in Patagonia to a rock ‘n’ roll–themed boutique in Boston made their mark as well,” she said. “As our savvy reviewers know, hotels can sometimes be the entire reason for the trip—I’m personally very excited to consult this list as I plot out the next year of vacations with my own family.”
The awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period between January 1 and December 31, 2022. The ratings come from real travelers covering more than 1.5 million hotels around the world. There is also editorial input.
Condé Nast Traveler named this Coconut Grove icon one of the best new hotels in the U.S.
