Everything we know about 'Industry' season threeBBC

With a Succession-shaped hole in TV schedules, you may be looking to watch another prestige series about unpleasant people willing to screw each other over to the backdrop of billions. Step forward, Industry. The critically acclaimed series has reached cult status since it first aired in 2020, as it takes a deep and dirty dive into the lives of young graduates at Pierpoint & Co, an investment banking firm that expects its employees to play just as hard as they work. The show is written by long-time collaborators Konrad Kay and Mickey Down, who previously worked in investment banking themselves – making what goes down on the trading floor in Industry seem even more astonishing.

The shock ending to season two, which saw high-flyer Harper Stern (Myha’la) unceremoniously sacked from Pierpoint, has left us guessing what’s next in store for the third season of the hit show, as well as what will happen to Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Robert (Harry Lawtey) as they remain in a firm quickly turning (even more) toxic. Ahead of the third instalment finally returning after two years away, here’s what we know so far…

When does Industry season 3 hit screens?

The HBO drama has two release dates; Industry will hit audiences stateside on 11 August, with new episodes dropping weekly. The BBC have now confirmed that all eight episodes of Industry will be available from 1 October on iPlayer, and will air weekly on BBC One.

Who is in the cast for Industry season 3?

Most of the season’s major players are touted as returning, including the newly unemployed Harper. The other juniors at Pierpoint are also scheduled to be returning, including Yasmin and Robert as well as their mercenary bosses: Eric (Ken Leung), Kenny (Conor MacNeill), and slick trader Rish (Sagar Radia). Moneyed client Nicole (Sarah Parish), whose inappropriate behaviour sparked a chain of events last season, will also be back.

Elsewhere, the Industry cast boasts a big new addition to season three: former Game of Thrones star Kit Harington joins as Henry Muck, the founder and CEO of an exciting new energy company that is set to go public on the FTSE 100. Canadian actress Sarah Goldberg also joins as Petra Koenig, a "portfolio manager at ethical investment fund FutureDawn", who we can expect to start working closely with Harper.

Other new cast members include Miriam Petche as Sweetpea Golightly, Andrew Cavill as Lord Norton, Roger Barclay as Otto Mostyn, Fady Elsayed as Ali El Mansour, and Fiona Button as Denise Oldroyd.

Is there a trailer for Industry season 3?

The full trailer for the upcoming new season has been released, and it looks as if Henry Muck is set to cause a divide between Yas and Robert. Henry is seen asking Robert whether he and Yas are a couple, and while Robert asserts they’re just “very good friends”, Henry responds with a laugh, “So, you love her?”

We also see a glimpse of what Harper is now doing since she was ousted from the company; we see her wooing Petra as she describes Pierpoint as “the short of the century”.

Elsewhere, Yas sees herself made the face of an embezzlement scandal, and it looks as if Pierpoint may find itself in a bind. As one staffer succinctly puts it at the end of the trailer: “I think Pierpont might be absolutely fucked” – to which Robert replies, “What else is new?”

How many episodes are there in Industry season 3?

Like season two before it, season three will be comprised of eight episodes. They will be released weekly in the US, and will likely be available to watch as a box set on BBC iPlayer.

What will Industry season 3 be about?

Alongside that explosive trailer, the official synopsis for the new series reads: “In season three, as Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing, Yasmin, Robert and Eric find themselves front and centre in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Sir Henry Muck, in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media and government. Since leaving Pierpoint, Harper is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig.”

Industry returns to BBC and BBC iPlayer on 1 October.
