Jamie Otis says her body 'never bounced back' after second baby
She opened up about the challenges with her body image since the birth of her second child.
Jamie Otis is celebrating her "mom bod."
The former "Married At First Sight" star, 36, shared an Instagram reel on Thursday documenting her relatable journey of finding "flattering" jeans as a "size 12-ish."
In the video, Otis tried on several pairs of skinny jeans.
The mom-of-two opened up in the caption about the challenges she faced with her body image since the birth of her second child.
"After I had my second baby, my body never 'bounced back,' I actually just kept gaining weight! Shopping for jeans that actually fit (and I felt good in) has been such a struggle since."
After recommending a few of her preferred jean brands, Otis reflected on her body's transformation and how she has come to appreciate her "mom bod" for making her a mother.
"If you watched me on 'Married At First Sight' or 'The Bachelor,' then you know I'm 40 lbs heavier than I used to be," she penned. "I've really tried to embrace this 'mom bod' and for the most part I have!"
Otis continued: "I'm so thankful this body has given me my beautiful children! But it's also nice to find clothes to wear that are comfy and I feel confident and beautiful in."
Fans met Otis's candid video with supportive comments and praise for "normalizing mom bodies."
"All of those jeans look great on you! Love them all!" one Instagram user shared.
"You look great in all of them honestly," a fan swooned.
"Yes! Keep normalizing mom bodies," another wrote.
"I love your honesty. It's so relatable and reminds people they're not alone," commented another. "Thank you for sharing."
In May, Otis shared another candid Instagram reel, sharing how she "gave up caring" about her body insecurities.
In the caption, she began by explaining that when she takes her kids to the beach, she doesn't "relax" while they play. "I am not that mom," she penned, adding, "I spend the whole time chasing my two-year-old so he won't crush all the sand castles!"
"I am that mom who gave up caring about my belly rolls and lumpy cellulite and just put the suit on anyway," Otis continued, admitting that while her relationship with her body image fluctuates, she doesn't let it interfere with motherhood.
"Some days I feel super good, others I still wanna hide," she admitted. "But every day I keep trying because I don't wanna miss out on these memories with my children, and I want them to grow up knowing that saggy skin, stretched-out skin, and lumpy skin is normal."
She went on to say, "Having the right swimsuit that makes you feel confident because it covers up your muffin top and hugs you in all the right places will make you feel good."
