Jamie Otis opens up about her son's EEG: 'I wasn't sure who was more scared'

Jamie Otis is giving fans an update on her son's health.

On Monday, the "Bachelor" star took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video of her two-year-old son, Hendrix, getting an EEG (electroencephalography).

In July, the mother-of-two shared a heart-wrenching video of her son's febrile seizures — a type of seizure triggered by fevers — and shared that her and Hendrix will be visiting a neurologist to get to the bottom of the condition.

In the video, Otis distracted her son by helping him recite affirmations while the doctor attached wires to his head. "I am kind! I am brave! I am funny!" were the affirmations they said together before the EEG took place.

In the caption, the "Married At First Sight" alum explained that although she was worried about the EEG, her son handled it like a pro.

"When my 2 year old and I walked into the neurologist to get his EEG I wasn't sure who was more scared — me or him?! All I could think is 'how the heck am I going to keep him from being scared, pulling the wires and screaming and crying?!' And I certainly didn't know how I'd get him to lay still during the hour long procedure with all of those wires attached to his head and on his chest," she began.

"When we got in the room I just climbed up on the bed with him, tucked him into the blanket, rubbed his arm and we began saying our affirmations. And I gotta tell you, seeing Hendrix smile and hearing him speak his affirmations as a gajillion wires are being glued to his head made me feel less scared myself," she continued.

Otis went on to explain that although the doctors are unsure why her son gets seizures, she is grateful for the support from fans and friends.

"We may not know what is causing these seizures (other than a spike of a fever) but we will do whatever it takes to try to prevent them for him. He's the happiest, sweetest soul," she concluded. "Thank you again (so much)! You know I don't have a very big family but having you rooting and praying for our Hendrix boy makes my heart happy. Our kiddos are so lucky to have so many internet aunties loving on them from afar. We love you!"

Fans thanked the reality star for raising awareness and shared their experiences with seizures in the comments.

"I had this done to me when I was 10. It was so scary for me but I am happy I see it was smooth for him!" commented a follower.

"Great job Hendrix boy! You’re so strong and brave!" shared someone else.

"He’s amazing! Kids are amazing! My three-year-old just did this, got diagnosed with seizures and then held perfectly still for an MRI without sedation. She’s stronger than I am!" added another.

"Thank you so much for sharing this and for bring attention to this important topic," wrote a fan.
