Jennifer Lawrence Makes a Strong Case for This New Spring It Color
GUMU
When Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, currently pregnant with her second child, stepped out in a bright blue sweater under a fab leopard-print coat, the “cerulean” monologue from The Devil Wears Prada immediately sprang to mind. But just like Anne Hathaway in that very scene, I was entertaining a notion that only illustrated my ignorance. J. Law’s sweater is cobalt, and it’s the shade of the moment.
Could the blue be a hint about her baby’s sex? An attempt to throw us off about the baby’s sex? Or just a sweater that has nothing to do with the baby’s sex? TBD.
The color has been all over the spring 2025 runway collections, per Vogue, with the outlet designating it as an It trend, so you know it’s serious. Lawrence’s take on the vibrant hue is pretty low-key—just a cozy pullover to cover her bump—but she definitely knows what she’s doing. For the past 18 months or so, she’s been all over the “pop of red” trend, and took a side in the summer sneaker wars. Though she keeps her street style cool and casual, make no mistake: Lawrence (or her stylist) has her finger on fashion’s pulse.
Royals
It's the second time in a week that the royal has worn blue.
Which isn’t to say that she doesn’t also have personal preferences. In fact, her most recent look features one of her faves: a cat-print coat. After the 2024 Golden Globes, Lawrence hit the after-party circuit in a fur-trimmed vintage Bill Blass leopard-print coat, and when she traveled to Scotland for the Dior 2025 cruise show, she wore a jaguar-print coat from the label’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The above is another leopard look—if you want to see the differences between jaguar, leopard, cheetah, and other animal prints, here’s a handy primer.
Lawrence completed the look with a knit bucket hat, black slacks, flats, and a cashmere scarf. Looks cozy!
