Jessica Alba is giving back to her parents with the renovation project of a lifetime!
The Trigger Warning star, 43, first surprised her parents, Mark and Cathy, by telling them she bought her dad’s childhood home and was planning to give it a complete makeover in an emotional YouTube video shared in August.
She posted a part two earlier in September that revealed the completed space after an extensive renovation, and shared a little more about her parents’ favorite spot on the property in a Sept. 23 Instagram post.
“If you know my parents, you know they love to entertain. Whether they’re inviting you over for a BBQ, to catch a game, homemade pizza night, a pool party, or just to hangout - you can always count on having a good time at their place,” Alba wrote in the caption.
“So when it came to redoing their backyard, I knew I really wanted to give them an outdoor kitchen,” she wrote. "Swipe to check out the insane #before and #after photos! Now, I’m just hoping my parents invite me over to hang and enjoy their dreamy backyard oasis! I mean - just look at these before & after shots - what a vibe!”

Included in the post are images of the backyard before it was updated, revealing a back patio with a glass dining table and a wooden fence. Another shot shows a grill and small side table on the patio.
In the after photos, Alba and her parents are all smiles as they pose next to the pizza oven in their brand-new outdoor kitchen.
A wide shot of the backyard shows a massive pool with built-in resort-style lounge chairs, along with an added seating area behind the pool. The updated back patio now offers a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen featuring marble countertops and barstool seating.
Part two of the renovation project, shared on Sept. 10, offered an inside look at the completed interior spaces in the home. Jessica led the tour with Lizzy Mathis — her co-host on their Roku Original series Honest Renovations — and unveiled the brand-new abode to her parents and her daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 13.
“Part 2 is FINALLY HERE,” Jessica wrote in the caption of the video. “Welcome to the end of this experience where I get to reveal the finished house to my parents. I'm so excited to share this with you - I hope you enjoy the laughs and love we all shared along the way. It really was a dream come true.”
She notes that this special project was the “first big one” that she and Mathis took on and it eventually led them to start their own renovation show.

Jessica continues, “This project was the definition of a true labor of love. It began almost three years ago and still makes me emotional watching the journey back. I still can’t believe it really happened... Grampers, this one is for you and in honor of your legacy ❤️”
In part one, she revealed that the home originally belonged to her late grandfather, which is part of the reason why she wanted to buy the home.
"After my grandfather passed away, my parents were planning on selling the house in order to pay for my grandmother’s medical bills. Well… I pretended like I was going to help them flip it before selling when in reality, I had planned to buy it for them all along."
She broke the news to her parents in a portion of the video that was first recorded in June 2021. The emotional scene shows her dad starting to tear up as he tells her that her grandfather would "be proud of you."
