Jo Koy Speaks Out About Taylor Swift's Reaction to His 2024 Golden Globes Joke About Her

One of the biggest moments from the 2024 Golden Globes was when host Jo Koy made a joke at Taylor Swift's expense, and her reaction went absolutely viral.

For those who missed it, Jo singled out Taylor with a joke about how the Golden Globes were using less camera shots of her than the recent NFL games she attended for boyfriend (and Kansas City Chiefs tight end) Travis Kelce. As social media went wild when the focus turned to her unamused facial expression upon hearing the quip, Jo decided he needed to clear things up with an explanation for why he made the comment in the first place.

"Real quick — did you see Taylor's reaction to your joke?" Entertainment Tonight reporter Denny Directo asked him shortly after the ceremony.

"Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute," he responded. "I was just saying it's less cutaways, that's all."

While Taylor hasn't explicitly shared her feelings about Jo attempting to joke about her personal life on the air, she has spoken out in the past about supporting Travis throughout the 2023-2024 NFL season.

Speaking to Time for the outlet's "Person of the Year" cover story in December 2023, Taylor elaborated how she doesn't think too much about how the media will react to seeing her cheer on her football playing boyfriend in the stands.

"There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once," she explained at the time. "I’m just there to support Travis,” she says. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads."
