Kaia Gerber Just Brought Back A Very Surprising Primary School Trend
Temperatures have dropped, snow has started to fall, the days are getting shorter and darker, and our calendars increasingly full... it can only mean one thing: the festive season is finally here – and with it, a whole lot of glitzy Hollywood parties and fabulous celebrity fashion moments.
This past week alone has seen Jennifer Lawrence step out in a bump-baring Bottega gown for the Governors Awards, Demi Moore and Selena Gomez dressed in glittering ensembles at ELLE's Women in Hollywood event, plus, of course, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo pulling out all the style stops for Wicked's ongoing press tour.

Last night, however, it was the turn of Hollywood's next generation to take to the red carpet. Stars including Kaia Gerber, Ryan Destiny, Kathryn Newton and Ava Phillippe descended on LA's Holloway House for The Hollywood Reporter and Instagram's Next Gen 2024 event, and made sure to flex their festive fashion muscles for the occasion.
The most memorable look of them all? Gerber's, naturally, that featured one particularly surprising element. A pair of knee-high white cotton socks.
The 23-year-old model served festive glamour up top and primary school chic down below, pairing a heavily embellished gold mini-dress and matching cape with perforated cotton socks and patent pink pumps. If this rather eccentric clash feels particularly Alessandro Michele-coded, that's because it is – the full ensemble comes from the designer's SS25 Avant Les Débuts collection for Valentino.
Is this a sign for us all to start pairing our party dresses with the throwback hosiery? Only time will tell...
