Kamala Harris Embraces the Burgundy Trend and Suits Up for Ceremonial Swearing-in of New Senators
Vice President Kamala Harris returned to her power suiting ways for the ceremonial swearing-in for new senators on Monday in Washington, D.C. The vice president was joined by the incoming elected officials and members of their respective families.
Harris opted for the burgundy trend in suited attire with a modern spin. She wore a streamlined burgundy suit with wide-leg trousers and an elongated blazer with sharp lapels.

The blouse Harris chose to complete the sartorial statement featured draped fabric in the same shade of burgundy. The burgundy trend has been worn by several high-profile figures over the course of the last several weeks.
Kate Middleton styled the autumnal and winter hue several times in the last few months, as the Princess of Wales steadily returns to public engagements following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment of an undisclosed form of cancer.
Forgoing her usual white pearls, Harris opted for a different tone for her go-to jewelry. The vice president wore a pair of black pearl studs to accessorize her look. Harris often accessorizes her attire with pearls as a nod to her collegiate sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Prior to her recent return to power suiting, Harris forwent her suited styling for a sleek, modern dress at the annual Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday. She wore a black dress with a column skirt and a shimmering bodice with a flowing silhouette.
Though Harris often favors power suits, there have been rare occasions when she worn dresses. Harris previously wore dress designs courtesy of Ralph Lauren, J. Mendel and Pamella Roland, among others.
