Kanye West Reportedly Thinks This Is What "Cost Him His Marriage" to Kim Kardashian
It's the "straw that broke the camel's back."
After months of rumors about an impending split, Kim Kardashian finally filed for divorce from Kanye West on Friday (Feb. 19). And while the couple has yet to share what caused their six year marriage to end, Kanye reportedly has an idea of what the breaking point was for Kim.
"He thinks that the presidential run was the straw that broke the camel's back," a source exclusively told People. "Before that, there was hope. After that, none. It cost him his marriage."
During his first campaign rally in South Carolina, the rapper divulged deeply personal details about his family, and at one point, he broke down in tears while revealing that he and Kardashian considered an abortion when she first got pregnant with their daughter, North. "Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn't want to," he said at the time. "She stood up and she protected that child." Following Kanye's controversial comments, an insider confirmed that Kim was "furious that he shared something so private."

"He's in that place of 'if only,'" the source continued about Kanye's state of mind amid the divorce news. "'If only I had done this, if only I hadn't done that.' He's processing things."
TMZ first reported that Kim filed the paperwork with the courts, and is reportedly asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple's four children. West is said to not be contesting the arrangement, and outlet sources are claiming the divorce is "as amicable as a divorce can be."
