Kate Middleton Just Raised the Bar on Airport Style
Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge swapped out the regal dresses, opting for a tailored approach to airport dressing instead.
It’s been a busy week for Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge—and it’s only Wednesday. Yesterday the Duchess greeted military families with her husband Prince William at a holiday event early in the evening before joining her Majesty the Queen for a diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace. Between the tartan skirt she wore in the afternoon and Queen Mary's famous Lover’s Knot tiara she flaunted later that night, Middleton pulled off two fabulous fashion moments in the space of 24 hours.
It’s clear that the Duchess is on a winning style streak, judging by her latest look. It was wheels up to Cyprus for the young royal today, who is visiting the Royal Air Force base in Akrotiri. She swapped out the stunning heirloom jewelry for a low-key airport outfit, perhaps inspired by the understated wardrobe her sister-in-law Meghan Markle wore on a recent tour of Australia and Fiji.
Middleton sported Smythe’s appropriately named Duchess blazer in olive, an elegant and practical alternative to the frock coats and sheath dresses she has worn on her travels in the past. A simple white shell was tucked under her jacket, while wide-leg trousers—an unexpected silhouette for the Duchess—had an elongating effect that was amplified thanks to L.K. Bennett stilettos.
