Kate Middleton Is Reassuring Her Kids That She'll Be "OK" Amid Cancer Treatment
Catherine, Princess of Wales shared that she's undergoing preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video.

As the world processes the news of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis — along with her father-in-law, King Charles's ongoing cancer treatment — the Princess of Wales opened up about how she is speaking to her children about her health. In a video shared to X and Instagram, Middleton took a moment to say that it has "taken time" not only to process the diagnosis herself and recover from her abdominal surgery in January, but also to "explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis." Though she didn't offer specific details, she said that it was important for her to tell them in a way "that is appropriate for them."
"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK," Middleton said in the video. "As I have said to them: I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirit."

During the clip, Middleton also mentioned how Prince William has helped her. In the wake of her surgery, several reports noted that William had cleared his schedule so that he could spend time with Middleton and his kids. Presumably, he was also tackling things that she couldn't, like taking the young royals to school. Middleton finished by asking the general public to give her and her family privacy as they navigate her recovery.
"Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you," she said. "It means so much to us both. We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment."
