We've been nursing a Kate Moss x Topshop-shaped void in our wardrobes ever since her last collection for the high-street giant dropped in 2010. Now, after more than a decade, the style icon is back – this time with a debut collection for Zara that references her most prolific outfits from over the years.

In collaboration with her longtime stylist and creative partner, Katy England, Moss has mined the archives of her career, drawing inspiration from some of her most unforgettable looks. From the muddy fields of Glastonbury to the glittering, sticky dancefloors of London’s Soho to the Cotswolds bohemia of now, the collection is a love letter to her signature mix of rock'n'roll grit and high glamour.

'There are hand-me-downs in here, like the perfect peacoat in fake pony,' Moss reveals. 'The jacket I inherited, that the design was taken from, had my friend’s initials in the lining, so we’re going to offer a customisation to sew in customer initials in theirs. Old school. You don’t want someone nicking your coat. It looks so expensive. Sometimes I’d get the pieces back and think, is that my original or the new version. That’s always a good sign.'

At the heart of the lineup is leopard print – a quintessential Moss motif – splashed across jackets, lingerie, and accessories. The collection also leans heavily into Seventies style with flowing dresses, chiffon, shimmering sequins, and nostalgic silhouettes that embody Moss' fashion legacy.

'Prints had to be in there,' Moss explains. 'I’m always drawn to vintage floral. Those old tea dresses from the thirties or an exotic print, that is the stuff that catches my eye when I go to a vintage shop.'

2024 is shaping up to be a banner year for high-street collaborations, and Moss’s debut with Zara only adds to the buzz. This year alone, we've seen Clare Waight Keller redefine wardrobe staples for Uniqlo, Sienna Miller inject breezy sophistication into M&S and John Lewis team up with A.W.A.K.E. Mode for a dose of the avant-garde. Zara itself has delivered hits with capsule collections from Harry Lambert and Stefano Pilati – but Moss’s long-awaited arrival feels like a crowning moment.

For fans, this collection is a callback to the sartorial glory days. Who can forget the frenzy of 2007, when Moss brought her style to the masses with floral tea dresses, rugged leather jackets, and fringed minis? Those pieces remain cult favourites, now sought-after and hunted down on resale platforms.

In tighter economic times, Moss' Zara collaboration is a reminder that style doesn’t have to come with a sky-high price tag. By making her unmistakable aesthetic accessible to all, Kate Moss proves, once again, why she remains the undisputed queen of cool.

The sepia-toned campaign has been shot by two of Moss' long-time collaborators, the photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with whom she has worked for 25 years.

The collaboration launched in select stores worldwide and on zara.com on November 30.
