The Princess of Wales has praised the natural world in a social-media post.

Kate is a patron for the Natural History Museum, which has just launched its new Urban Nature Project. To promote the launch, the royal took to Instagram with a heartfelt message for her followers.

“I know the power of nature to support our development and wellbeing, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy,” she wrote.

“I am hugely supportive of the museum’s commitment to create a special space which encourages people of all ages to reconnect with nature and learn more about how we can protect our natural world.

“I hope these gardens will be inspiring and transformative for the thousands of people who visit.”

The princess accompanied her post with pictures of her visiting the gardens in 2021. She struck a casual figure in a light pink blazer, paired with blue jeans and a simple white t-shirt.

The Urban Nature Project looks to help people in urban areas reconnect with nature and green spaces. It also aims to give people the ‘tools and motivation’ to safeguard the natural world around them.

The post comes after Kate received a standing ovation last week, when she attended the Wimbledon men’s final. She told onlookers that she was “glad to be back”, following her time away from the public gaze after being diagnosed with cancer.

The princess cancelled a number of commitments in order to receive treatment, issuing a video where she asked for “privacy” while she recuperated. She has since started to make a gradual return to public life, attending Trooping the Colour last month.

Ahead of her appearance at the event, she issued a second emotional statement thanking followers for supporting her throughout her recovery.

“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months,” she said. “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s birthday parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
