Katie Holmes has come a long way since her days on “Dawson’s Creek.” In a recent interview with InStyle, the actress got real about what it’s like living in the public eye.

Holmes sat down to discuss everything from her upcoming film “Rare Objects” to growing up in the spotlight, and how she’s raising her daughter Suri, 13, to be “strong, confident, and able.”

In the candid interview, Holmes also discussed her recent return to the spotlight as an unexpected street style star. This past August, Holmes was spotted in New York City wearing a matching cashmere bra and cardigan set, rocketing her to the top of many best-dressed lists.

“It's been a really exciting time because of the cashmere bra,” Holmes shared with a laugh.

The 41-year-old star admits that while the photo of her hailing a cab in the off-the-shoulder cardigan appeared glamorous, the truth was far from it.

“Honestly, I wasn't feeling so sexy. And I saw that and was like, ‘Sexy. I can do that!’” she shared.

In addition to revealing the inspiration behind some of her most-coveted fashion choices, Holmes let readers in on the skincare routine that keeps her skin looking its best now that she’s in her 40s.

“I do all that Barbara Sturm stuff: hyaluronic, face brightening, face cream, skin cream. It's so vain,” Holmes told the magazine. “I'm basically always putting lotion on.”

Holmes’s skincare routine includes the Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum, which retails for a whopping $429. Advertised as “a dose of long- and short-chain hyaluronic-acid molecules,” this serum provides a potent dose of hydration that fights wrinkles and leaves skin looking refreshed and radiant.

Though Holmes’s hyaluronic acid of choice may be out of reach for many, there is still a range of affordable options out there if you’re looking to incorporate the anti-aging ingredient into your own skincare routine.
