Katie Holmes Paid Homage to the '90s in an Oversized Plaid Flannel Jacket and Baggy Jeans

Looking effortlessly chic, as always.

Being equal parts cozy and chic is always essential to a Katie Holmes outfit—especially as the cold weather months continue. Thankfully, the Dawson's Creek actress is a pro when it comes to staying warm while looking good in the process.

While on the way to her Broadway production, Our Town, on January 12, Holmes wore an outfit that looked like it could have been straight from the '90s. Her ensemble featured a few core basics—like a slouchy taupe sweater and crisp white sneakers—but made a call back to the grungy era by layering a brown flannel jacket over the sweater that featured a large black and white plaid pattern.

Holmes completed the look with baggy faded blue denim jeans (another staple of the '90s)—and accessorized with her usual suspects—a slouchy gray beanie, oversized sunglasses, a tiny bag thrown over her shoulder, and a Venti Starbucks beverage to get her through the day.

As per usual, the 46-year-old's looked slotted perfectly into her self-described winter outfit formula. "In the winter months [my outfit formula] is usually based on more, and the double layer," she told InStyle in December. "So for now, it's a lot of pants that I can put yoga pants underneath and cozy sweaters and just try to have some sort of balance to it. "And you can thank Holmes's stylist for all of those pins on your Pinterest board.

"My stylist Brie Welch is really good, so I really give her all of the props," Holmes added. "I follow what she wears and I'm inspired by her."
