Katy Perry Revealed the Real Reason Why She Ended Her Feud With Taylor Swift

Katy Perry is going into more detail about how she and Taylor Swift eventually found common ground after years of feuding. On Tuesday's episode of The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM radio, Perry said that they made up to be good examples and now they are really close because of it.

“Gossip and lies, they take the elevator. But truth takes the stairs…time will tell my story,” Perry explained. “What I’m so grateful for is that we did get to make up and we made up publicly to be an example of redemption. It’s hard for young girls, growing up [with] cliques and high school and pettiness and all that stuff, so now we’re super friendly and I’ve always wanted the best for her and we can talk about the best we want for each other."

The feud started in 2014, and was famously immortalized with Swift's song "Bad Blood." In an interview about the song, Swift solidified rumors that it was about the two of them saying, "She did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. Perry's response set off a firestorm when she wrote, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing...," on Twitter.

Then in 2018, after years of back and forth passive-aggressiveness and more songs about their fighting, Swift sent Perry a literal olive branch. A year after that, Perry appeared in her music video for "You Need to Calm Down."

Now that the two are good friends and shining beacons of reconciliation, who knows ... maybe there's a godmother title in Swift's future since Jennifer Aniston apparently doesn't have it.
