Keeping track of the royal grandchildren — and great-grandchildren
The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her third child with Prince William, which will make Queen Elizabeth II a great-grandmother of six, a grandmother to eight, and mother to four. Keeping track of the entire royal family isn’t easy — but we’ve got you covered.
The Queen had four children with her husband, Phillip: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. Of the four children, Prince Charles is the eldest and therefore the second in line of succession to the British throne. Prince Charles had two children with the late Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Prince William and Kate have two children: Prince George, who is third in line of succession to the British throne; and his younger sister, Princess Charlotte, fourth in line to the throne. Once Kate’s third child is born, he or she will be fifth in line. Which then puts Prince Harry down to sixth in line.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte might be the most well-known little royals, but Charles’s siblings had kids and their kids had kids too.
Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne, has two daughters — Savannah and Isla Phillips — with his wife, Autumn. The two sisters can often be seen running around together, eating ice cream and playing with their cousin Mia. Mia Tindall is the daughter of Zara Tindall, sister to Peter and daughter of Princess Anne. Mia Tindall is 17th in line to the throne.
At the moment, William and Harry’s cousins Beatrice and Eugene are not yet married. Once they are and if they decide to bear children, the queen’s great-grandchildren list will continue to grow.
