Ripa recorded herself talking about what she calls “a very serious medical problem” while sitting in the physician’s office, awaiting treatment.

“Botox deficiency,” Dr. Robert Anolik says nodding in agreement. “A lot of side effects. Lines, wrinkles.”

Ripa then tells the camera that Anolik has been nervous she is going to touch him, referencing the Centers for Disesase Control and Prevention’s recommendation of social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“I appreciate how germ-nervous you are. These are great CDC rules and I appreciate it.” Ripa says. “Having said that, in this time we can notice that there’s been a lot of worrying. You can see it’s written all over my face, but Dr. Anolik decided to be brave today and come into work…to treat my acute Botox deficiency syndrome.”

Ripa does not record her injections, but resumes filming after her treatment.

“What do you think, did I survive?” she asks Anolik.

“We used it all up. Hopefully there won’t be a shortage,” he replies.

The 49-year-old star also shared some of her home workout tips for those who will be avoiding the gym. The former soap opera actress lifts weights with one hand and records herself on her phone with the other while following a workout video that plays off camera.

“Let’s face it, people are a little afraid to workout around other people,” she says. “And guess what? My arms are not going to tighten themselves.”

On Mar. 11, Ripa and co-host Ryan Seacrest addressed the show’s decision to continue taping without bringing in a studio audience. The show has opted to have several members of the “Live with Kelly and Ryan” staff fill the empty seats.

“As you can see, things are a little different here today. Given the developing situation in New York with the coronavirus, the decision was made to suspend audiences from our show,” Seacrest told viewers watching from home.

“While we don’t have our regular studio audience except for some of our producers who are obviously being punished for something. You obviously really screwed up there, guys!” Ripa told colleagues jokingly. “But that shouldn’t stop anyone from watching at home because let's face it, you can’t go anywhere else.”
