Meghan Markle's Close Friend Designer Misha Nonoo Welcomes Her First Child
Fashion designer (and close confidant of the Duchess of Sussex) Misha Nonoo just welcomed her first child with husband Mike Hess. Here's everything you need to know about her:
Markle and Nonoo met through mutual friends.
Nonoo and Markle have been friends for years since they first met through a mutual friend in Miami, according to UK publication The Evening Standard. The pair initially bonded over their passion for gender equality, the empowerment of women, and dogs. “We were seated next to one another at a lunch, and we got along like a house on fire,” Nonoo told The Evening Standard. “I love her to death. She is the coolest girl in the world,” Nonoo added.
A quick peek at Nonoo's Instagram feed confirms that Markle and the designer have been close friends for a while. Back in 2015, Nonoo posted a sweet snap of Markle in New York:

Nonoo is a fashion designer.
A British womenswear designer, Nonoo was a finalist for the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and was also named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 in 2015. Keeping with social trends, Nonoo also drew attention when she became the first fashion designer to debut a runway collection on Instagram.
The designer is responsible for one of Meghan Markle's most famous looks to date. Nonoo designed the white "Husband" shirt Markle wore for her first public appearance with Harry at the Invictus Games last year.
She's newly married.
Her boyfriend Michael "Mikey" Hess proposed in February of 2019 in Cabo San Lucas.
According to the Daily Mail, Hess posted about their engagement on his private Instagram account, sharing a photo of the proposal, which took place in Cabo San Lucas.
"Thank you for making all my dreams come true, Misha Nonoo," reads the caption. "I am so in love with you, and I feel so lucky I get to spend the rest of my life with you right beside me."
They tied the knot in September of 2019 in Rome. Naturally, Harry and Meghan were in attendance.

She just welcomed her first child.
According to the Daily Mail, Nonoo gave birth to a baby boy on Monday, March 30. The happy couple named their son Leo.
"Our lives have been forever changed," Nonoo said. "We love [him] more than we ever thought possible and cannot wait to share every adventure with [him]."
Indeed, Archie and Leo are likely to have many playdates in their future, now that Harry, Meghan, and Archie have recently moved to the U.S.
Nonoo is the one of the many rumored matchmakers who reportedly set up Meghan and Harry.
Ever since the couple revealed that their relationship started out with a blind date, there’s been heavy speculation about who set Meghan and Harry up. Back in November when the couple announced their engagement, they shared some interesting details about their first time meeting each other.
"We were introduced, actually, by a mutual friend," said Harry. "We should protect her privacy and not reveal too much of that,” Meghan added. Many believe Nonoo is that friend, but others have speculated that another friend, Violet von Westenholz, was actually responsible for the set up. It's likely we'll never know for sure as the couple, Nonoo, and von Westenholz are all tight lipped about the rumors.
Nonoo is friendly with other royals as well
Nonoo runs with a royal crowd. In addition to her Meghan connection, the designer counts Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie as close friends as well. In April of last year, she joined Princess Beatrice on vacation in Jordan with a seriously A-list crew, including Karlie Kloss and Ellie Goulding.

And, Nonoo's Ex-Husband is one of Prince Harry's Friends
In addition to her personal connection with Meghan, Eugenie, and Beatrice, Nonoo was also married to the co-founder of art auction house Paddle 8, Alexander Gilkes, who happens to be one of Harry’s best friends from Eton, according to Page Six.
While Nonoo and Gilkes divorced in 2016 after a four-year marriage, her connection to both Meghan and Harry makes it more than possible that she was the one to introduce them.
Whether or not Nonoo was actually responsible for uniting Harry and Meghan is unclear, but she is not shy about expressing her admiration for her friend. “[Meghan] has the most remarkable and generous spirit,” Nonoo told the Evening Standard. “I aspire to be as philanthropic as she is, and to have as much of an impact as her.”
