Light show set for return to city for 17th time
A two-day light festival is set to return to Nottingham for the 17th time.
Nottingham Night Light will see more than 35 immersive and interactive light-based installations, performances and activities taking place across the city.
The event - which attracts 50,000 visitors a year - begins on Friday 28 February and wraps up the following day.
Alex Flint, chief executive of It's in Nottingham, the city's business improvement district, said: "Events like this not only bring people together but also provide a significant boost to local businesses, reinforcing Nottingham's position as a cultural hub."
The main attraction, called "Primal Future", at Old Market Square, will feature a projection on the Council House - bringing together "dynamic dance, cutting-edge technology, and motion graphics", all set to a commissioned soundtrack.
This collaborative piece has been created by Nottingham's Tom Dale Company and Vent Media, in partnership with Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, funded by Arts Council England.
Nottingham Castle will also be bathed with a visual projection created by Inspire Youth Arts, Urban Projections, and music producer Kirk Spencer.
Another installation will also be on show at at Sneinton Market.
Councillor Sam Lux, executive member for leisure and culture at the council, said it was "excited to showcase local talent", and welcome an array of artists from across the UK and beyond.
The event is funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, It's in Nottingham and Nottingham City Council.
