Limited Edition Baja Blast Stanley Cups Are Causing So Much Chaos
What do you get when you pair Stanley mania with one of the biggest fast food restaurants in the country? A whole lotta chaos.
Just when the frenzy surrounding Stanley Quenchers started to settle a bit, Taco Bell announced that it would be releasing a limited edition Baja Blast-themes Stanley tumbler in honor of its 20th "Bajaversary." And yes, madness ensued.
To get their hands on one of the Stanleys, fans had to keep an eye on the Taco Bell app on August 13 to score the freebie. That's where things became chaotic:Taco Bell planned to give away just 100 tumblers.
The giveaway has since come and gone, but that didn't stop fans from beelining it to Reddit to voice their frustration with how the contest went down.
A number of users on Reddit claimed they were on the app promptly at 2 P.M. PST (the start time of the giveaway), but were met with a "404 error" message, implying the website went down.
"The issue wouldn’t be as big if they actually made a working drop that lights up on time and tells you if you got it or not instead of a 404," read one message.
Another Redditor declared that with just 100 tumblers available, "Nobody stood a chance."
In a separate Reddit thread, one person went so far as to accuse Taco Bell of running "fake giveaways."
Others were equally skeptical about the restaurant's free tumbler giveaway.
"I'm not even convinced it was ever actually available. This might have been completely flubbed," read another comment.
Sheesh, and we thought Stanley mayhem at Target was a lot.
