Take a look at the new first-class seats coming to some British Airways planes in 2026
British Airways will roll out a new first-class seat on its Airbus A380s beginning in mid-2026, offering customers in some U.S. markets a cutting-edge way to travel in luxury.
The new suite seats are 36.5-inches wide and convert to a 79-inch fully flat bed, just one inch shorter than a standard queen-sized mattress.
Other features include closeable doors, adjustable mood lighting, a 32-inch 4K television monitor, and window blinds controlled by the touch of a button. The suites also have a do-not-disturb indicator, so passengers who want to sleep through the meal can notify their flight attendants. Adjacent seat pods in the central part of the cabin can be combined into one large suite for couples traveling together.
"We’re incredibly proud to launch the next era of First that pushes the boundaries of comfort, luxury and modernity, taking into consideration customer preferences and expectations to the finest detail," Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, said in a statement. “We truly believe we offer a winning combination in delivering an extraordinary experience for our customers.”
Travelers will certainly have to pay for the luxury, however. A round-trip first-class ticket from Dallas in mid-March is currently selling for $7,022.71. British Airways is operating A380s, which will receive the new first-class seats, from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Miami to London this winter.
Many airlines have slowly been phasing out first class as business class becomes ever more luxurious on long-haul routes, but British Airways said it is proud to continue the tradition of first-class service between the U.S. and London in many markets.
