Myrtle Beach has long been known as a top vacation destination.
But it’s also been named as one of the best places to live in South Carolina.
If you’re planning to move to the state in 2025, Myrtle Beach has been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 5 cities to make your home.
Myrtle Beach is No. 3 on the list, topped by Greenville at No. 1 and Charleston at No. 2. Spartanburg and Columbia rank No. 4 and 5 respectively.
Myrtle Beach was also ranked No. 51 out of 150 cities in the same report for the best place to live in the country.
U.S. News cited the area’s mild weather and beaches, as well as relatively low cost of living, that seem to be drawing young professionals, growing families and empty nesters.
In addition, residents profit from the area’s pro-business atmosphere that includes low income taxes and incentives for growing companies, making Myrtle Beach “a great place to start a small business,” the report said.
South Carolina had 203,674 people move to the state in 2023, according to Consumer Affairs. It was one of the top states for an increase in migration.
