This 20-year-old had the best response to being told she wore too much makeup

As makeup artist Miranda Blake and her fans know, makeup can be a great way to get a message across. Sometimes the message just happens to be “bitch bye.”

At one point or another, most beauty junkies have heard the phrase “you wear too much makeup.” The phrase is a form of makeup shaming or glam shaming, which assumes that the wearer has spent their morning foundation-matching and swatching lip shades to please someone else. As many beauty lovers will tell you, makeup can be a creative outlet and, often, produce real works of art.

Our new favorite work of eyeshadow art is by 20-year-old Dallas-based makeup artist Miranda Blake, whose Twitter is currently going viral for her latest makeup look. Beneath the caption, “When someone says ‘you wear too much makeup,’” Blake did herself up in full rainbow smoky eye glam — with the words “bitch bye” stamped on her lids.

In a more detailed post on her Instagram feed, Blake describes how she created the look with BH Cosmetics Take Me Back to Brazil Eyeshadow Palette ($14), Morphe 35B Color Burst Eyeshadow Palette ($23), and Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Gypsy ($24). As for the wording, she used stickers. “It’s so easy that beginners can achieve this,” Blake tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “The hardest part was blending the shadows nicely over the stickers.”

Asked whether she prefers a full face or minimal makeup, Blake says that “this question describes me so well.” She switches it up between both: “I rarely where makeup during the week, but when I do it’s full glam. I think everyone should feel beautiful and confident whether they’re wearing no makeup or they cake it on. At the end of the day, it all washes off.”

Fans are loving the look. “You miracle woman,” wrote in one commenter on Instagram. “This is so so creative omg I love it,” another agreed. Some fans are even planning to use the “bitch bye” sentiment for their own purposes:

Blake has long been serving looks on social media, from her gemstone-filled sunset shadows to more eyeshadow messages.

When she’s not busy with her viral creations, Blake is taking online makeup courses from P.Louise, whom she describes as “one of her biggest inspirations.” But other than a few courses, she’s studied beauty on her own. “I usually do prom makeup and graduation makeup, and I hope to eventually get into wedding makeup,” she says.

Blake may have plenty of time for makeup, but she has zero time for haters. Next time she wants to throw shade? All she has to do is close her eyes.
