"Pet adoption... it’s a very good thing," the lifestyle guru said
Martha Stewart is adding a new member to her family!
On Friday, Jan. 17, the 83-year-old businesswoman and lifestyle guru introduced the world to her newly adopted cat in an Instagram post.
"Meet Magnolia, a beautiful four-year-old silver-shaded Persian cat and the newest member of my family," she wrote. "I recently adopted her through @rocknrescue_ a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Bedford Hills, New York. Please consider adoption when looking for a pet."
Stewart, a lifelong animal lover, shared more photos on her blog from her visit to Rock N' Rescue Pets in Bedford Hills, NY. The cookbook author said she was "eager" to meet the cat she'd "heard so much about in texts and emails" about a month ago and decided to stop by the rescue, which is "not far from my farm" Cantitoe Corners in Katonah, NY.
"I love Persians and have been thinking of adding another to my family. I made an appointment to visit as soon as I could, and that same afternoon, I took her with me back to Cantitoe Corners — her new 'forever' home," she shared.
Cantitoe Corners is home to a bevy of Stewart's pets, of which include Chow Chow dogs, French bulldogs, Bengal cats, peacocks, chickens, horses, donkeys and geese.
"Persians are medium-to-large-sized cats with round, flat faces, known as brachycephalic, and long, flowing coats," Steward explained. "I named her Magnolia, and she is a lovely silver-shaded Persian with golden-copper eyes and a friendly disposition."

Magnolia's adoption comes about nine months after the mogul announced the death of her beloved tri-color Persian cat, Empress Tang, in April 2024.
"Empress Tang, my dearest tri-color Persian, passed away this morning of natural causes," she wrote in an Instagram post at the time.
"She was an awesome cat she lived well, worked hard," Stewart said, adding that the feline had modeled for Martha Stewart Living and the kitty litter brand PrettyLitter.
Empress Tang was adopted by Stewart in 2009 and was nearly 15 years old when she died. "We loved her so much!!!!!!!!!!!!" the Instagram post concluded.
Two years prior on April 3, 2022, Stewart announced that Empress Tang's sister, Princess Peony was accidentally killed by her dogs in a tragic accident. "The four dogs mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self," she explained. "I will miss her very badly. RIP beauty."
