The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Third Season Premieres Tomorrow

Months before its second season aired, Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was renewed for a third. Here's everything we know so far about Maisel's upcoming season:

It is really, finally, almost here—and Amazon released a slew of new images to celebrate.

It's been a year since Maisel fans last got their Midge fix, but the time has finally come for season three. Just ahead of its release on December 6, new photos from the show were revealed—and some of them offer clues about what's to come. Why is Sophie Lennon apparently onstage without a fatsuit, and who's that baby that Midge's dad is holding? In a matter of hours, fans will be able to find out.

A second, longer preview has landed.

Whereas the first teaser trailer was more about the excitement of seeing Midge go on tour with Shy Baldwin, this preview gives hints at the struggles she'll face, too. Plus, fans get their first look at Sterling K. Brown's character, though his role has yet to be revealed. Watch the trailer in full above.

In the short preview, Midge can be seen starting her tour with Shy Baldwin, alongside Susie; performing for a huge gathering of troops; and getting along swimmingly with her ex-husband, Joel. And—perhaps most importantly—it reveals that season three will premiere on December 6. Watch it in full below.

Paparazzi have snapped several photos of Rachel Brosnahan and others on set in New York City.

If anything can be gleaned from the behind-the-scenes images, it's that Midge certainly won't lose her stylish touch this season. (See them all here.)

The first photo from season three has been released.

In the image, Midge and Susie are enjoying the sun. "Pack your swimsuits because #MrsMaisel is heading to Miami!" the caption teases.

The cast have begun to drop a few hints about season three's plot.

After it was announced that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's second season had been nominated for a whopping 20 Emmys, the actors did a few interviews—and dropped a hint or two about what's to come for their characters.

Tony Shalhoub, who plays Midge's dad Abe Weissman, told the Wrap that season three will pretty much pick up where season two left off. "All of Midge’s changes that she’s going through, all of the choices that she’s making, are having a sort of a broad sweeping impact on all of the rest of us—certainly on Rose and on Abe, and their lives and their relationship to each other," Shalhoub said. "Everything is in a state of upheaval now. Even Susie’s life takes a little bit of twist to that, and Joel’s path veers off in another direction. So the impact of her choices—there’s that ripple effect, and we’re all kind of heading into uncharted territory."

Alex Borstein, known to Maisel fans as Midge's unlikely agent Susie, echoed Shalhoub's sentiments about her character. "You get to see Susie dive in," she told the Wrap. "You get to see her try to be a duck, you know? Ducks look like they’re calmly floating on the water, but underneath they’re frantic, they’re legs are paddling like crazy, which you can’t see... I think you kind of see her keeping her head above water."

An actress with ties to Monaco's royal family has been cast in the series.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, the daughter of Prince Albert and Tamara Rotolo (yes, that makes her Grace Kelly's granddaughter) is set to appear in Maisel's third season. Grimaldi shared the news in a since-deleted Instagram post, but still told Page Six that she'd "had a great time" filming for the the series.

Rachel Brosnahan successfully lobbied for Sterling K. Brown to appear on the show.

At the 2019 SAG Awards, Brosnahan interrupted Brown's interview with ET to reiterate her desire for him to guest star on Maisel. "I would do anything," she said, per ET. "I would go crazy." At the time, Brown seemed more than happy to sign on ""I'm in, I'm in," he said, shaking hands with Brosnahan. "Deal."

In mid-march, we got the first clue that a official deal was in the works. "[Brosnahan] doesn't have to campaign very hard. We all want Sterling K. Brown on the show," Maisel showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino told ET ahead of Maisel's PaleyFest panel. "Sterling K. Brown happens to be a very busy man. We love him. We are trying to find stuff that works with his schedule."

About a month later, Maisel's official Twitter account has announced Brown's casting, quoting Brown's own tweet. "I’m beyond excited to share some pretty marvelous news" Brown wrote. "#MrsMaisel, I’m coming for you!" Watch his full video announcement below.

At the Writers Guild Awards, the cast dropped some exciting clues about season three—including that the show is headed to Miami.

"I think I’ve heard that we’re going to Miami in June. That’s all I know," Tony Shalhoub (Abe Weissman) told ET. "I don’t know what that [entails]. It’s about [Midge's] tour, but that’s all I got." Filming will start next month on season three, but there's no word on exactly when they'll hit Miami.

Shalhoub and his onscreen wife, Marin Hinkle, offered some other hints as well. "Astrid has announced that she’s pregnant so that means that we’re going to become grandparents again," Shalhoub said. "That will be an interesting thing because of her... wackiness."

For her part, Hinkle seems interested to see how Abe Weissman's abrupt career change will affect her character. "It’s exciting that Tony’s character is going to have a huge shake up in his personal and professional life, so that’s going to affect my life because my character needs clothes and needs a nice house," she said. "So we need to figure that out."

The lead cast members have secured some very substantial raises.

Variety reports that Rachel Brosnahan, who was relatively unknown before starring in Maisel, will take home around $300,000 per episode in season three. Her onscreen father, Tony Shalhoub, isn't doing to bad either, with around $250,000 per episode. And while Alex Borstein has yet to finalize her agreement, she's said to be looking at a similar sum.

Zachary Levi wants to return.

The actor behind Dr. Benjamin Ettenberg, Midge's season two flame, just opened up to the New York Post about his hope to come back. "I had such a time working with that cast and crew. Amy [Sherman-Palladino] and Dan [Palladino] I got on very well with," Levi said. "If I can make it happen, for sure."

We wouldn't be surprised to see more of Levi next season—after all, even if Midge chooses to turn down his proposal, we'd expect an onscreen rejection.

Michael Zegen, the actor behind Joel Maisel, doesn't see Midge and Joel getting back together in the near future.

"I know that they could be good together, if it was a different time in their lives, perhaps," Zegen told Town & Country in a recent interview. "I’m sure they were good together... But right now, as it stands at the end of season two, no, I don’t think that they’re good together. He would be holding her back."

Zegen also gave us an idea of what he thinks Joel might be up to in future episodes. At the end of the last season, Joel expressed an interest in running a club, and Zegen thinks it would be a great fit. "He kind of rescues his father’s company, and I think that he has good business instincts," he said. "So in that respect I think this could be really good for him and something that he could really thrive in, because clearly the stage was not for him, but perhaps behind-the-scenes stuff will be."

Rachel Brosnahan and Marin Hinkle shared with Town & Country what they want for their characters in season three.

Brosnahan, who plays the show's titular Midge Maisel, hopes to see her character show some grit. "I want to see her make a firm commitment to pursuing this path," she said. "We’ve watched try her hand at something new and rise to the top of it very quickly... So in season three, I would like to see her be willing to fall without a safety net. She’s always had this support system, she’s got her family and her friends some kind of back-up finances. The stakes are not quite as high for her as they are for Susie. I’d like to see her willing to take the leap and let them be higher for her too."

For Hinkle, the actress behind Midge's mother Rose Weissman, it's more about looking backward. "I want to know what she thought she was going to be before she got married, Hinkle said. "Not just going to Paris, but more like, did she ever see ever see herself as a doctor? Did she ever see herself as a lawyer? Did she ever see herself as a politician? Did she not let herself see herself that way? I love when we get to see the future of someone by understanding their past. And I want to know more about her family, like her upbringing. Like was she monied? Or not? I thought she was something, and then at the end of the season—without giving a spoiler—I feel like I got a totally new idea."

Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, fellow co-creator Dan Palladino, have even more seasons planned out.

"I think we know what our trajectory is for the first four to five seasons," Sherman-Palladino told The Hollywood Reporter. Of course, there's no word yet on whether Amazon will continue to support the show—but as Maisel was awarded the tech giant's first two-season order, it wouldn't be at all surprising if it did.

When asked what those future seasons might look like—and if we'd get to see more far-flung destinations in them—Amy Sherman-Palladino said this to Town & Country. "The world of the series reflects her world. And as her world changes and shifts, the series has to go with it."

She explained, "We didn’t go out and go 'WE’VE GOTTA GO BIG!' It’s like, well now what do we do from here? We take it from where we left off. It all snowballs on itself, so I think we’re just going to let it continue to snowball. And eventually they’ll lock us up. Eventually Amazon will say, 'Checkbook’s closed!' And that’ll be it."
