Forget her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle is well on her way to becoming a bonafide royal thanks to her effect on sales.

After appearing twice at the Invictus Games in Toronto, the American actress has caused sell-outs and sites to crash.

On Saturday, Meghan attended the opening ceremony of the 2017 Invictus Games. Sitting miles away from her partner Prince Harry, the 36-year-old’s maroon dress and bang-on-trend biker jacket sold out almost immediately.

Shopping platform Lyst said it had seen a real spike in the number of people looking for maroon dresses, with searches increasing by 37 per cent in the past three days.

But it was her look on Monday that caused the most buzz. Finally making their first public outing together, Harry and Meghan were all smiles as they watched a wheelchair tennis match.

Meghan dressed down for the occasion, wearing a white shirt by designer friend Misha Nonoo and a pair of ripped jeans.

The $365 CAD white shirt (named the “Husband” shirt) has now sold out on Farfetch completely, with page views to the design on Lyst increasing by 62 per cent. (However, it’s still available on the designer’s site — but you’ll have to hurry.)

Meghan’s $200 tortoiseshell sunglasses by Finlay & Co caused the brand’s site to crash within minutes of people spotting the accessories.

The designers have so far made more than $33,000 on those pair of sunglasses alone, showing just how much of an effect a Meghan Markle seal of approval has.

Meghan’s leather Everlane bag has also completely sold out and won’t be restocked until the end of November. Her matching Sarah Flint shoes tell the same story.
