Meghan Markle’s latest look is one we’ve seen a million times—a crewneck sweater and matching knit skirt. But the subtle shoulder detail reminds us that it’s the little things that take an outfit from boring to Meghan Markle–worthy.
The Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry, are currently visiting Australia for the Invictus Games, with Markle leading a “story time” for the kids of the competitors on February 9. For the occasion, she chose an all-olive (say that 10 times fast) outfit from Dôen: a knit top with shoulder buttons, a long ribbed skirt, and matching suede pumps. It looks like those specific items aren’t available on the brand’s site right now, but you can copy the look (for less) with this Revolve skirt and a Quince top. Got a plain ol’ crewneck sweater? Adding a broach is another way to add a unique pop of color or texture to your look. (We’re also fans of mending sweaters with a bit of embroidery—maybe a flower or heart?—if you’re into that kind of thing!)
The duchess finished off the elegant ensemble with gold jewelry and a simple ponytail, the epitome of Rich California Cool Mom.

Instagram:@meghanOh, and if you’re wondering who that guy in the jacket is sitting off to her right, that would be Prince Harry, who was in the audience for story time.
It’s likely not a coincidence that Markle is wearing a California-based brand on this highly visible tour. She knows the power of her styling choices and, as a resident of California, has been involved in post-fire recovery efforts, recently helping a young Billie Eilish fan whose merch was burned get some new stuff directly from the pop star. Because of the fires, Markle and Netflix decided to delay the premiere of her new show With Love, Meghan until March 4, when presumably MM’s Cali Chic style will go even further on display. Until then, olive knitwear for any season is a tasteful and flattering way to go.
