However, Engelson’s royal ex might still be on his mind. The Daily Mail shared video from the groom’s stag in Miami Beach where a friend references “royalty” and tells Engelson and pals, “This right here...this is to royalty...Royalty won, royalty lost...but regardless baby, we get to keep going!”

Engelson and Markle met in 2004 and dated for seven years before saying “I do” in 2011. The couple opted for a casual, beachfront wedding attended by 100 of the pair’s closest family and friends.

Famed royal biographer Andrew Morton said “cracks began to appear in their marriage” very shortly after it began.

Morton reports that while Markle had travelled to Toronto to begin shooting the series “Suits,” which inevitably put a strain on their relationship, with Markle filing for divorce in 2013. According to Morton in his book, “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” the split came as a complete surprise to Engelson, after Markle allegedly sent her wedding rings to Engelson in the mail.

Shortly after their divorce was finalized in 2014, Markle began a relationship with Toronto restaurateur Cory Vitiello, while Engelson went on to date “Baywatch” actress and model Charlotte McKinney. In 2017, Engelson was introduced to nutritionist and health expert Kurland by a friend.

Although Markle went on to become one of the most famous women in the world, Kurland’s family is well regarded in their own right, with a fortune estimated to be over $200 million USD.

In 2018, Engelson scrapped plans to capitalize on his former heartbreak by producing a TV show about a divorced man whose ex-wife goes on to marry a prince. Shortly after it was revealed that Modern Family executive producer Danny Zuker had joined the pilot as a writer, the Daily Beast reveals Engelson received “desperate pleas” by the Markle camp to halt production.

“She reached out to him first through friends and now they have kept up the pressure and Trevor has pushed things back,” a source shared. “The plan was for the series to come out during the aftermath of the royal wedding...but things have changed.”

Engelson has remained tight-lipped on his former-relationship to the Duchess of Sussex, and has chosen to move forward with his life and find happiness with Kurland.
