  • During Wednesday's episode of The View, Joy Behar and Meghan McCain got into a heated fight over President Trump's re-election rally this past week.

  • The argument led to Meghan calling Joy an expletive and Whoopi Goldberg having to call for a commercial break.

  • After the exchange, Meghan and Joy spoke out about their "vicious" fight.

The View co-hosts Meghan McCain and Joy Behar were eager to clear the air on Wednesday after getting into one of their biggest on-air spats yet.

It all began when Joy and Meghan started talking about President Trump.

On yesterday's show, the two stars of the ABC daytime talk show got into it while discussing Trump's re-election rally, which was held in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday. While the conversation initially revolved around what everyone thought of Trump's speech, it devolved into a discussion about why people support the President in the first place.

The argument really picked up when Joy asked Meghan "Who do [Trump supporters] hate?" Then, Meghan told Joy that "yelling at her wasn't going to fix the problem" and finally Whoopi Goldberg jumped in to dispel the tension.

"Okay guys, okay!" Whoopi interrupted. "It's a great discussion, and we can go back to it. I just need everybody to take a beat."

Meghan, though, was not finished. She began grousing about being the show's "sacrificial Republican," to which Joy sarcastically teased, "Awww."

"Oh, don’t feel bad for me, b--ch,” Meghan shot back. “I’m paid to do this, okay? Don’t feel bad for me."

Trying to calm things down Sunny Hostin jumped in and told Meghan not to call Joy a "b--ch." Realizing that the situation wasn't getting better, Whoopi immediately called for a commercial break.

But after cooling off a bit, Joy and Meghan seemed totally fine.

When the show returned after the break, Meghan decided to clarify why she called her co-star the b-word.

"So I wrote a book called America, You Sexy B--ch, I love the world b--tch. Joy and I call each other b--tch all the time and text each other b--ch all the time," Meghan began before turning directly to Joy. "I know you're comfortable with it, she knows I'm comfortable with it. I also enjoy fighting with you." Joy nodded her head in agreement.

Meghan continued: "I just want everyone to stop being so precious about our relationship, because it's almost 2020 and women can debate on TV in a spirited way without it being personal. And I know this is a big shock, [but] we get along backstage."

Joy added: "Even if it gets vicious, it does get vicious. We're both pugilistic and so it's fine ... I don't care if you call me a b--ch."

The bottom line: Everything is fine, everyone's happy, and all is well on The View again. Moving on, people!
