Members of The Royal Family Leave Balmoral for Church Service

Members of the British royal family left Balmoral Castle today to attend a special service at Crathie Kirk, a small church nearby. While King Charles and his sons Prince William and Prince Harry all left Balmoral yesterday, the rest of Queen Elizabeth's family has remained, with a few joining belatedly.

Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, and daughter Lady Louise, rounded out the group.

This afternoon, they were seen heading to Crathie Kirk in four Land Rovers, according to the BBC. Upon their return to Balmoral, they stopped outside to read floral tributes left outside the gates. Princess Eugenie was also pictured laying flowers with the rest of the tributes.

While King Charles officially became monarch the moment his mother died on Thursday, he was proclaimed king by the Accession Council in London today. The historic proceedings were televised for the first time in history.

"As the Queen herself did with such unswerving devotion, I too now solemnly pledge myself, throughout the remaining time God grants me, to uphold the Constitutional principles at the heart of our nation," King Charles said in his first speech as monarch yesterday. "And wherever you may live in the United Kingdom, or in the Realms and territories across the world, and whatever may be your background or beliefs, I shall endeavour to serve you with loyalty, respect and love, as I have throughout my life."
