Mom claims she found a 'giant piece of wood' in bag of Costco frozen chicken: 'Is that weird?'
A woman alleged that when she opened a bag of frozen chicken from Costco, there was a surprise inside.

TikTok mom and salon owner @meagan.reitz claimed that a bag of frozen Costco chicken also contained a random block of wood. She alleged that she didn’t realize the wood was inside the bag until she was preparing to cook the chicken.

“I just opened up a frozen bag of chicken breasts from Costco so I could thaw some out for tonight,” she explained.
When she opened the bag of chicken, she claimed there was something else inside of it. At first, she assumed maybe the mysterious object was a piece of salmon that had somehow slipped in.
She showed the bag of Kirkland chicken breasts, and it did look like a slab of salmon with the skin facing up was in there with the poultry.
“It turns out it wasn’t salmon,” the mom alleged. “I pulled it out, and it’s a giant f****** piece of wood. In my bag of chicken. Like, my chicken has been besmirched by the piece of wood. Is that weird or is that weird? Do I move on with life just like normal?”
Some of the pieces of frozen chicken appeared to have small bits of wood on them in the video. But @meagan.reitz decided to thaw them out anyway. The video racked up 1.8 million views, and TikTokers couldn’t help but crack jokes.
“That’s the new fire-roasted chicken kit,” someone said.
“With the price of the lumber, that’s a steal,” another wrote.
“I’d be less concerned about wood than I would be about salmon with my chicken,” a person commented.
The mother said Costco was “still the best” after receiving a call from the company’s vice president of food safety and quality assurance. She claimed the representative was apologetic and sent her a gift card, which was “appreciated” but not necessary.
