From Woman's Day

In case you’ve been busy doing who knows what, The Lion King is being remade into a lifelike CGI film, and it’s hitting theaters this summer. There’s a lot of excitement around the star-studded cast (hello, Donald Glover and Beyoncé!), but let’s not forget that Disney’s original animated film is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. In honor of that milestone, Hasbro is coming out with The Lion King edition of the classic game Monopoly.

The board game was first exclusively revealed to INSIDER, and the details are just as magical as we hoped. The special edition of Monopoly will first hit Walmart on April 22 for $39.99, then it will roll out to other retailers in June.

You have your choice of six characters from the beloved '90s film: Mufasa, Scar, Simba, Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa. The cards used in the game feature artwork seen in the actual animated film, so prepare for some major nostalgia. The premise of the game is the same as regular Monopoly, but there are differences to Disney-fy it. For example, instead of putting down hotels and houses, you’ll have beetles and grubs.

Something you don’t have in the original game, however, is Pride Rock. It holds Destiny cards and plays the opening of “The Circle of Life” song when you press the button.

You can preorder Disney’s The Lion King Monopoly at Walmart now. We wonder if Beyoncé has gotten hers yet …
