'Monster' Passengers Allegedly Bully Woman Who Wouldn't Trade Comfort Seat for Coach So They Could Sit Together

The dispute caused the flight to miss it's take-off time, according to a passenger who says they witnessed the scene and recounted it on Reddit

A plane passenger's inconsiderate behavior caused a flight to take off two hours late, and Reddit users are not here for it.

A Redditor took to the platform’s popular “Am I the A------” forum on Dec. 9 to describe a travel experience that occurred “a few years ago,” noting that the situation was so extreme that it still stands out in their mind.

“This was an international flight for a vacation I had been planning for over a year and I was SO excited to get comfy in my comfort plus seat and knock off before landing,” the poster recalled, adding, “Unfortunately, the person across from me had other plans.”

“While I'm getting settled, I hear the standard, 'Oh, I think you're in my seat' convo begin,” they continued.

The poster then explained that a woman with a standard Economy seat assignment had approached their section and asked another woman — who had booked a Comfort Plus seat — if she could switch seats with her so that she could “sit next to her friend.”

The woman in the Comfort Plus seat politely refused, explaining that she had specifically paid extra for the seat due to the long flight.

According to the Redditor, the woman with the Economy seat assignment and her friend proceeded to start “bullying” the other passenger, claiming she was “ruining their trip.” The situation became so heated that both a flight attendant and the pilot had to get involved, according to the Redditor.

While the pilot insisted that the woman from Economy return to her correct seat, the woman’s friend continued to bully the passenger who declined to trade, insisting she “ruined the entire flight” and even insinuated that she refused to give up her Comfort Plus seat “because she’s fat.”

There was some vindication for the passenger who was in their correct seat all along, according to the poster. When the flight attendant was forced to get involved yet again, she moved that passenger up to first class and away from the alleged harasser.

Unfortunately for the original poster, they said by that point, the plane had missed its initial take-off time and was ultimately delayed by two hours.

The friends got their way as well, however.

“The monster from economy snuck back up into the seat next to her monster friend at some point," the Redditor recounted. "I wish they'd been kicked off when they refused to move."

Reddit users were unanimously outraged on the passenger’s behalf.

“They should've both been kicked off the flight on the spot,” one commenter wrote in response to the story, with another adding, “I feel like once the pilot has to get involved, the person needs to be escorted off the flight.”

"All seat stealers should be moved next to the toilets, renamed the shame zone,” another commenter said.

Yet another person provided a potential solution for preventing this type of behavior on flights in the future, writing, “When do we start billing these a------- for all the time they waste? I bet you’d really cut through some bull---- if passengers could rack up a $10K bill for disobeying instructions and delaying flights.”
