More than 50 Lexington restaurants are part of this dining event, plus it’s a good cause
A staple on the Lexington foodie event calendar is back, and once again you can help a good cause.
The annual Dining Out for Life benefit is Sept. 19 and this year more than 50 Lexington restaurants will be donating a minimum of 25% of sales to support AVOL Kentucky’s mission to end HIV and support those with HIV/AIDS.
You can donate directly to AVOL or eat at one of the local restaurant or bars participating in Dining Out for Life. Some dining spots donate a minimum of 25% of their sales for one meal, some for all day and some (but not all) include drinks in the mix. You can see options and a list of restaurants at diningoutforlife.com/city/bluegrass
“The importance of Dining Out For Life extends beyond enjoying delicious meals from our generous restaurant community throughout the Bluegrass region,” AVOL’s Executive Director Jon Parker said in a news release. “It serves as a powerful reminder that our communities flourish when we support each other. Whether participating as a diner, a restaurant owner, or a volunteer, everyone contributes significantly to making a real difference.”
The national fundraiser, which started locally in 2009, raises money for essential services to those affected by AIDS such as education, HIV testing, access to medical care, supportive services and permanent housing programs.
“Dining Out For Life not only raises essential funds but also sparks important conversations about HIV, supporting those in our community who are medically vulnerable and finding housing solutions” said Parker. “Each meal shared, and every discussion held helps to dismantle misconceptions and promote a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those living with HIV. Our collective efforts on this day have a lasting impact.”
