Apartment Therapy’s January Cure is a free 20-day program that’ll help you refresh your home for the year ahead. Sign up here and get all assignments delivered to your inbox.

The second week of the January Cure is now complete, and I hope you’re feeling good about the goals you set. This week has been all about living your best life at home: You spent time creating your intentions list, stepping up your routine, and picking your one word for the year.

Today’s another Cure catch-up and choose-your-own-adventure assignment, so get ready to take on a project of your liking!

Day 10: Pick a task and treat yourself.

Today and the next Friday of the Cure, you’ll be deciding what you need to work on. Do you need to play some catch-up on previous assignments? Or, do you want to take on a bigger project that you do in one day or spread out to get done over the weekend? The decision is up to you. Just don’t forget to treat yourself to something good after all your hard work — whether that’s buying some pretty flowers, enjoying your favorite snack, or lighting a nice-smelling candle.

Finish a previous assignment.

For a bigger lift, you can check off a task from the cleaning to-do list you created on day two, or do something else you’ve been meaning to finish. For instance, you can take on decluttering all the expired items in your home, starting with the items in your bathroom. Read below to find out what you should be getting rid of!

Declutter items from the bathroom.

There are a number of expired things hiding in your bathroom. Here are some types of items you should look for.

  • Makeup

  • Travel-sized items

  • Medications

  • Cleaning products (if you store them here)

With medications and certain cleaning products, be sure you are disposing of them correctly.

Declutter expired items from four other places.

Want to declutter more expired things around your home? Look in closets, under the sink, the kitchen, and the pantry.

Great job on a stellar week two of the Cure! Next week, Apartment Therapy’s Home Projects Director, Megan Baker Detloff, will be joining us to share the best methods, tools, and techniques she knows to help you get your projects off the ground and completed.

Share what you worked on today in the
