It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year for This Senior Cat Who Loves Watching“ The Grinch” on Repeat

It's Grinch season, and nobody is more excited than Ella the cat!

The rescue feline — and film connoisseur — has over 60 million likes and nearly 800,000 followers on TikTok (@ellawatchestv_), where her owner, Emily Beck, shares videos of her pet engaging in her favorite pastime: watching movies, more specifically, The Grinch.

Ella previously went viral in 2023 for her love of TV but just experienced another — more festive — wave of fame after Beck shared a TikTok video about the senior cat's intense love for the 2018 version of the holiday film.

Posted Dec. 11, the video shows clips of the Grinch-obsessed kitty intensely watching the movie. It also includes text explaining Ella's love story with the animated flick.

"Five years ago, l adopted a senior cat that turned out to be a huge fan of the Grinch," Beck captioned the start of the TikTok. "I would put it on for her when I was doing chores to keep her occupied."

Over time, Ella apparently wanted to share the joy of The Grinch with her owner and started trying to get Beck to join her while she watched TV, according to the viral TikTok, which has over four million views.

Ella's growing obsession with the film, Beck said, led to a significant change in their household.

"I was never a huge Grinch fan, but now l buy her anything Grinch-related," the owner wrote before revealing that one such item is a "jumbo-sized Grinch pillow," which, for scale, has a head larger than the cat.

But that doesn't bother Ella, who snoozes peacefully on the giant Grinch in one of her TikTok clips.

The cat's obsession with the Grinch isn't restricted to the holiday season, Beck assured in another TikTok. Actually, the "senior cat" watches the Christmas character on TV "year-round," the owner wrote over a clip of Ella's tail flicking as she enjoys her favorite film.

As for how she discovered her cat's holiday obsession, Beck "turned on the new Grinch movie one day after work, and [Ella] was ENTHRALLED 🤣," the owner revealed in a TikTok comment.

Beck said she and Ella "watch something together" in the morning and "right before we go to bed," the owner told Newsweek last year. "It has become our way to bond!"

"I think she's hysterical," Beck told the outlet of Ella. "I adopted her when she was 10, and I had no idea she would be so animated and silly. If this is what makes her happy, I'm happy to do it forever."
