Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A North Carolina man made a stop to put gas in his car and ended up winning a $200,000 lottery prize.

Demarte Harris of Salisbury told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he stopped at Kangaroo Express on Statesville Road in Salisbury and bought a $200,000 Money Rush scratch-off ticket while filling up his tank.

"I usually like to buy tickets when I stop for gas," Harris said. "I like playing the new games."

He scratched off his ticket and was shocked to see a $200,000 top prize.

"I saw a two and then zero zero so I thought I won $200," Harris recalled. "Then I saw more zeroes. I was pretty excited."

Harris said he plans to use his winnings to buy a house.
