The changing seasons can wreck havoc on our skin. Changes in temperature, UV exposure and humidity all play a part in the overall look and appearance of our skin - but after a particularly cold winter, you might be heading into spring with skin that's a little drier than normal.

Aside from enhancing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dry skin can also be painful, and can cause flaking, itching and bleeding. The good news is there are plenty of affordable dermatologist recommended products that can help restore your skin's moisture barrier and have your skin looking soft, supple and healthy — and one top-rated one is on sale right now on Amazon Canada.

What is it?

Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream combines the lightweight, fast-absorbing properties of a gel with the moisturizing power of a cream to lock in moisture. Hydro Boost contains hyaluronic acid, an ingredient which naturally occurs in the skin but diminishes as we age. The cream includes ingredients like glycerin and dimethicone helps restore your skin's moisture barrier preventing further moisture loss over time.

The gel creme is formulated to be worn under make-up and although it contains soothing olive extract - it won't clog pores and lead to future breakouts.

"This is my third container," one shopper wrote. "After moving to Canada my skin started breaking out due to the dry weather. I've been looking for a hydrating face cream which is also light and non-oily and this product is everything I wanted. Also, there's no fragrance and feels so fresh and light and gets absorbed immediately. I've been using prescription medication for my skin which causes my skin to flake and this really helps with that as well. I am glad I've found this product and I love that its reasonably priced!"

While many shoppers have become loyal fans thanks to its attractive price and results to soothe dry skin, others have pointed out that their skin looks younger and healthier thanks to the boost in hydration.

"I have used Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for nearly a year now and the difference in my facial wrinkles is amazing," another said. "The lines around my eyes are very faint. I'm 72-years-old and I am constantly being told how fresh my skin looks. You only have to dip your finger slightly in the gel to get enough to cover half of your face. A jar lasts a long time!"

Some customers have noted that while the product does help with irritated dry skin, some customers have complained about the amount of product you get compared to the cost.

"[Hydro Boost] feels fresh and moisturizing for my face and neck. It has a nice scent, but it's a little strong," an Amazon shopper wrote of their four star review. "The jar is made of a thick acrylic material making it look like you're getting a good amount of cream when in fact there is very small amount of cream compared to its container."

At only $13, Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream is an affordable investment if you're someone who suffers from dry skin. The ability to wear under makeup without creating an oily base for your products is a bonus - plus it won't clog pores which could result in unwanted break-outs.
