Even though we may associate dry skin with winter, it's actually a year-round skincare concern that's quite common. Between air conditioning, sun exposure and dips in a chlorine pool, our skin can feel tight, itchy and begin to flake.

The good news is there are plenty of affordable dermatologist-recommended products that can help restore your skin's moisture barrier and have your skin looking soft, supple and healthy — and one top-rated one is on sale right now on Amazon Canada for 30 per cent off.

What is it?

Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream combines the lightweight, fast-absorbing properties of a gel with the moisturizing power of a cream to lock in moisture.

Amazon shoppers are such fans of the Hydro Boost Gel Cream, it's currently the top beauty product on the retailer's Movers & Shakers list, meaning it's seen a bigger spike in sales than any other beauty product across the entire site.

Hydro Boost contains hyaluronic acid, an ingredient which naturally occurs in the skin but diminishes as we age. The cream includes ingredients like glycerin and dimethicone helps restore your skin's moisture barrier preventing further moisture loss over time.

The gel creme is formulated to be worn under make-up and although it contains soothing olive extract - it won't clog pores and lead to future breakouts.

'My skin is nice and soft'

"I have very dry, sensitive skin," a shopper wrote of their skincare concerns and scent allergies, who says the Hydro Boost Gel Cream was non-irritating and helped alleviate their dry skin and their "skin is nice and soft" now.

While many shoppers have become loyal fans thanks to its attractive price and results to soothe dry skin, others have pointed out that their skin looks younger and healthier thanks to the boost in hydration.

Although a majority of the reviews are positive, some customers have complained about the amount of product you get compared to the cost. Hydro Boost is available in a 47 ml container without a pump, which other Amazon shoppers have said can collect bacteria if you're dipping your fingers in the container on a day to day basis (be sure to wash your hands before you apply any kind of skincare!). Others cautioned shoppers to be sure they ordered the scent-free Hydro Boost, especially if they're sensitive to fragrances.

Verdict

At $14, Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Gel Cream is an affordable investment if you're someone who suffers from dry skin. The ability to wear under makeup without creating an oily base for your products is a bonus - plus it won't clog pores which could result in unwanted break-outs.
