Former NFL QB compares Chiefs’ Justyn Ross to a receiver who made Pro Bowl seven times

The Chiefs will have some difficult decisions to make with their roster, especially at wide receiver.

But if comments made by Chiefs general manager Brett Veach on Saturday are any indication, it appears Justyn Ross will make the 53-man roster.

During an episode of “NFL Live” last week on ESPN, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky said Ross has a huge upside.

Orlovsky compared Ross to A.J. Green, who made the Pro Bowl in his first seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2011-17). Green has had six seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards in his career.

On ESPN’s “NFL Live,” Orlovsky raved about Ross.

“Abilitywise, it’s Justyn Ross,” Orlovsky said. “If he has finally the luck of staying healthy, they get AJ Green. That’s who this young man is. He is that talented. He’s long, he’s athletic. Great body control. Catches the ball with his hands. He’s tough across the middle of the field. He just hasn’t been able to stay healthy. You’ve seen clips on social media of what he’s done in training camp. ...

“But the defending Super Bowl champion, if Justin Ross stays healthy, not if he’s good enough, if he stays healthy, they stumble into A.J. Green. Think about that. And then all the concerns about the second pass catching option, they go away.”

That comment made an impression with the others on the show, and Orlovsky added: “This young man is that talented.”

X (nee Twitter) user RJ shared video of Orlovsky’s praise of Ross, although it is not synced up well.
