Mother is serving you-know-what. Nicole Kidman absolutely slayed her latest red carpet in an Atelier Versace gown with multiple hidden details.

The Oscar winner wore the sexy style to the New York premiere of Expats, her upcoming Amazon series. Her black gown features a structured bodice literally strapped onto her chest by mere ribbon, and a kind of half-skirt that wraps around the back to leave a hip-high slit. Kidman's back is entirely exposed, and behind her pointy-toed heels, we can see that the dress is actually lined with lime green silk. Very Rep-coded of her.

Kidman kept it clean with the accessories and grooming, opting for pretty blonde waves, light makeup, and delicate diamonds for her earrings and bracelets.

The look is reminiscent of a style we might loosely call the ribbon gown, which is a dress that looks like a big piece of ribbon, usually leaving the wearer's back exposed. Other entries under this umbrella term include Kate Hudson in The Yellow Dress, Anne Hathaway at the 2013 Oscars, and Aubrey Plaza at this year's Emmys.

Despite being the star of the “We come to this place for magic” pre-movie AMC short, Kidman has been in her limited-series era of late. Her epic feature Australia just got turned into a limited series for Hulu, she's the star of Expats, and there's even talk of bringing back Big Little Lies.

“I loved Big Little Lies,” she said during a Q&A at the CME Group Tour Championship on November 17, 2023, per Deadline. “We will be bringing you a third one, just FYI.” Girl, how? Kidman and her costars have full slates of upcoming projects, and it's not like they can bang out an HBO series on their days off. Ah well, never doubt Nicole Kidman.
