Nike Opens New Basketball Court in Metro Manila, Philippines

Nike has opened a new basketball court in Bonifacio Global City, which lies in Metro Manila, Philippines. Titled "The Courtyard," the basketball court was created just ahead of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

As the court is located in a popular area for Manila youth, Nike wanted to offer a place for year-round play for the local community alongside growing the basketball community in the region. Covering 2,182 square meters, "The Courtyard" was created by artist Kiefer Indiongco and includes two full-size basketball courts made from Nike Grind and one half-court for practice shooting. The standout feature of "The Courtyard" is its multi-colored design which is inspired by activities in the country – featuring traditional patterns weaved together with basketball symbols.

Additionally, the space is set to include basketball camps and weekly pickup games led by Nike coaches. The range of camps and programs will be offered free of charge year-round. "Having this court here in the heart of Metro Manila is huge," says Xavier Nunag, Commissioner of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. "It’s different when you play alone in your barangay. Playing here gives you the prime-time feeling that you’re part of Filipino basketball culture."
