These are officially the best gastropubs in the UK

If you love the charm of a traditional British pub but fancy restaurant-quality food to go with your pint, you’re in luck. The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list for 2025 has just been announced, spotlighting the best pub dining experiences across the UK.

Topping the list for a third consecutive year is The Unruly Pig in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Described as ‘winsome and warm,’ this stylish spot pairs hearty yet refined food with a welcoming atmosphere, earning high praise from industry experts.

Over 350 hospitality insiders, including top food writers and celebrity chefs, cast their votes, and every pub on the list was recognised for its exceptional cooking, service, and atmosphere.

While the capital has its fair share of exceptional gastropubs, a countryside venue again claimed the top spot.

That said, London still made a strong showing, with The Devonshire in Soho coming in second place overall and securing the title of the best gastropub in London.

Since opening in late 2023, The Devonshire has gained quite a following, namely for its elevated take on pub classics and expertly poured Guinness.

Elsewhere, The Star Inn in the Yorkshire village of Harome claimed third place, praised for its ‘playful but refined cooking’ and dedication to seasonal ingredients.

Meanwhile, The White Hart in Fyfield, Oxfordshire, was named ‘One to Watch,’ and The Abbey Inn in the North York Moors took home the title of ‘Most Sustainable Pub of the Year.’
