OMG: A Family of Six Actually Calls the Bachelor Mansion Home

In revelatory news today, we found out by way of the Today show, that the Bachelor Mansion is actually home to a family of six when it isn't being used to film The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
When Marshall Haraden, owner of the construction company The Marshall Group, first built his home back in 2004 for his wife and four kids, he never dreamed how famous the house would become--or the dozens of men and women that would cycle in and out of it twice a year. The residence has been used in both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette since 2006, according to Trulia, and Haraden explained to Today that, "when comes, we move out for 42 days. Everything we own leaves the property and goes into storage." At least that means they don't come home to wine (and tear) stains all over their furniture!

The props team repaints the place and does a complete overhaul, bringing in furniture and beds to fit the entire cast. Once hometown dates roll around (when there are only four contestants left) the cast and crew pack up the mansion and the family moves back in.

"People think that when the show's on TV, it's happening at the house," revealed Haraden. "Sometimes when we come home for dinner at 9:00 or 10:00 at night, there's people outside the gate climbing over the fence or on top of their cars trying to take pictures."

"I stay away from the house unless something breaks," he added of avoiding the mansion during filming. "I don't want to have special knowledge about anything that goes on so there's no way I can say something I'm not supposed to know."

It must be pretty crazy to watch your house be inhabited by a bunch of (oftentimes drunk) strangers, but being able to geo-tag your own home with "The Bachelor Mansion" is kind of awesome. Watch The Bachelor and the Haraden's home on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
