One of Miami’s favorite Cuban sandwich shops just opened at Bayside Marketplace
One of Miami’s favorite spots for Cuban sandwiches has just opened a new restaurant in downtown Miami.
Sanguich, the Michelin-recognized restaurant from husband-and-wife owners Daniel Figueredo and Rosa Romero, is now open at Bayside Marketplace, a spot that can lure tourists as well as locals who don’t mind crossing busy Biscayne Boulevard for a bite.
The restaurant, which opened on Eighth Street in Little Havana in 2018, has been “bombarded” with requests for more locations, according to Figueredo. Earlier this year, he and Romero opened a location in Coral Gables, and they also own a training center and manufacturing location in Little River.
“Bayside is now our fourth spot in South Florida, and we’re just getting started,” he said. “We’re excited to bring our sandwiches to more neighborhoods across the region and the U.S.”
The menu will reflect what Sanguich has become know for: classics like the Cubano, pan con lechon, croqueta preparada and pan con bistec. For the handful of diners who prefer turkey to pork, there’s the Sanguich de Miami, with turkey, smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on Cuban bread. All sandwiches range in price from $11.50-$13.89.
The new Sanguich will also serve batidos (milkshakes), with flavors like mamey, banana and trigo. The Flancay dessert will be available, too.
Romero said it was rewarding to see the restaurant resonate with diners, especially after it was named a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide for three straight years. The designation highlights restaurants that offer good food at reasonable prices.
“We’re thrilled to have a home in one of Miami’s busiest neighborhoods,” she said. “Our commitment to quality, tradition and the community remains unwavering as we grow.”
