After nearly a year (!!) of work from home life, we’d like to consider ourselves experts in all things comfy. Finding the perfect sweats is actually much harder than you may think, since they need to strike a fine balance between being warm without being bulky, soft without pilling, and versatile enough to go from the workday to the weekend.

While many brands pride themselves on having the softest sweats around, Outdoor Voices calls their All Day collection of CloudKnit basics “The Softest Things in Your Closet.”

Newly available to ship to Canada and with some bold claims to live up to, we knew we had to find out for ourselves how soft the CloudKnit collection could really be.

We got our hands on the All Day Sweatpants to find out, and here’s what we really thought of them.

Having a monochromatic moment in the All Day Sweatpant and cozy tie-dye sweater.
Having a monochromatic moment in the All Day Sweatpant and cozy tie-dye sweater.

Made from fabric with a name like CloudKnit, I had high expectations for the Outdoor Voices All Day Sweatpant to truly feel like a dream for my legs. While they certainly deliver on being some of the softest and most comfortable in my closet, I do have one gripe about the loungewear style. In my experience, sweatpants are usually made from a plush, fleece fabric that keeps you warm once temperatures start to drop, and these are not at all that kind of sweatpant.

I’d consider these more of a jogger, since their tapered fit and lightweight stretch-jersey fabric feel more like pjs than actual sweats. I tend to run cold no matter the time of year, and was hoping for a brushed interior or thicker fabric that would ensure the All Day Sweatpant earned a spot in my current rotation of work from home styles. Unfortunately, I think they’re just too thin for what I want in my winter wardrobe. That said, I’ll certainly be keeping these pants around for comfy days come spring and summer.

The sweatshirt? Faded. The pants? Outdoor Voices. The floor? Just cleaned.

I must admit that I’m not a big sweatpants gal. Usually when I’m lounging I’m wearing leggings and a sweatshirt - so I was excited at the prospect of adding a pair of super soft sweatpants to my wardrobe.

I was pleasantly surprised by the All Day Sweatpants; they’re lightweight and comfortable to wear around the house. Like Kate said, they’re not designed for Canadian winters, but I liked them for the fact that they’re not super thick or stiff like traditional sweatpants. These pants have movement and don’t add bulk to your frame which I find can hide my shape. I recommend them if you’re like me and not sold on the idea of heavy sweatpants, but don’t want to wear leggings all the time.

If you’re looking for something thicker - you might like the Pickup Jogger instead, which is made from a heavier-weight soft terry fabric.

These Outdoor Voices pants pair perfectly with big socks and an oversized sweatshirt.

Like Kate, I originally thought these pants would be thicker and fleecier. However, since I live in an apartment that seems to always be 25 C no matter what time of year it is or what the thermostat is set to, these lighter-weight pants were actually a welcome loungewear addition to my wardrobe.

These are definitely very soft, but as mentioned above, they are more of a jogger to me than sweatpants — so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a style for bone-chilling Canadian winter days.

On the plus side, the All Day Sweatpants definitely live up to their promise of being incredibly soft — the smooth, modal-esque fabric makes these a must-have for lazy weekends that you still want to feel (slightly) put together.

I’ll definitely be wearing these for movie marathons, but I likely won’t be debuting then outside of my condo building until the weather warms up a bit.
