Patagonia’s New Year Specials Are Not to Be Missed Hearst Owned

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

If you’re in need of some reliable outdoor gear to get you through the harshness of winter, let us sound the alarm that Patagonia has just refreshed its Web Specials section. The iconic brand typically adds to its discount section at the beginning of each season, offering savings on past season’s products or colors. It’s low-key one of the best ways to save some coin on Patagonia gear—along with buying used from the Worn Wear program, of course.

What tends to happen is at the start of a season, Patagonia will update that section with all sorts of new items and new colors. It usually gets picked through fairly quick, and stuff will stay sized out until the next season’s drop. So right now, the sizing is superb on nearly all items we’ve tracked down. That means you can score up to 40% off Patagonia gear right now.

We’ve helped you out below to get a head start on digging through the section, picking out some of our favorite pieces and some of our editor-approved Patagonia products.

One of the big ticket items that got refreshed with some new colors and sizes in the Web Specials section is the Nano Puff Jacket. Our pick for the best puffer jacket, it’s an ultra-lightweight jacket that punches well above its weight in warmth thanks to 60g of PrimaLoft Gold Eco fill insulation. If that wasn’t enough, the exterior is made from 100% recycled polyester ripstop and sports a DWR finish—in our testing it holds up fairly well in anything except true downpours. At 20% off in a ton of colors (with full size runs in just about every one), it’s an easy add to the jacket rotation.

And if you’re in search of a vest, the Nano Puff version of that is a stellar choice (also 20% off). It’s one I personally have owned for three years and it’s the perfect layering piece I use for rounds of golf, bike rides, and surf checks. While it’s not a standalone option in the colder months (like right now), it’s thin enough to layer under a jacket or over a hoodie if it’s a little warmer out.

Another icon to call out the rare discount on is the Black Hole Duffel, specifically the 55L and 70L versions. Discounted by 30%, the 55L is one I’ve owned for a few years and makes for a (kind of) perfect carry-on backpack—technically, it might be a little larger than carry-on limits, but I’ve never been denied with it and popping it in an overhead. What makes the duffel/backpack hybrid great is very comfortable backpack straps (that can be removed), an extremely durable ripstop exterior (you can beat this thing up), and a padded base. It’s a bag you can expect to have a lifetime. And the 70L is definitely for bigger/longer trips, or outdoor adventures where you need to pack a ton of gear but aren’t necessarily carrying it on your back.

That’s not all that Patagonia’s Web Specials section has to offer right now though. If you’re a fan of the brand, or even just looking for sturdy gear, now is the time to jump on these rare savings before they get snatched up.
