From Detoxing To Cool Sculpting, These Are The Wellness Trends People Say Are Money Down The Drain
The world of wellness trends can be an overwhelming place to live in.
So recently we asked the BuzzFeed Community to share which wellness trends they think are a complete waste of money. Here are their responses:
1.Personalized supplements
"I didn't feel any different from buying general everyday multivitamins."
—24, California
2.Cool sculpting
"It took me years to realize that they were just preying on my own insecurity with my body when I was a healthy weight and size. Also, it’s complete bullshit when they said it was 'painless.' That procedure was the most excruciatingly painful thing I had experienced up to that point and I remember being left crying alone in the spa changing room because I was in so much pain. Not worth the $5K plus whatever self-esteem I had before walking into that med spa."
—31, Minnesota
3.Fast-acting hyper-pigmentation products
"They all have the same active ingredient that really works: the passage of time. I have yet to find that miracle product that can reduce a dark spot's visibility by 90% in less than six weeks."
4.Life coaches
"If you can't sacrifice the time and effort to become a real licensed therapist, you're probably the least qualified to tell someone else how to live their life."
5.Detoxing
"Detox tea, detox drinks, and detox vitamins. There's no such thing. If your liver and kidneys are functioning, you detox yourself."
6.Clean eating
"I was really into it in my early/mid-20s, when I was just out on my own and trying to figure out how to feed myself three times a day ad nauseam for the rest of my life. But it's basically 60% classism, 30% anti-science, and 10% 'I'm using 'health' as a smokescreen for my eating disorder,' and that got old real fast."
7.Chiropractic realignments
"Dropped almost $1200 at the chiropractor for weekly realignments and I cannot begin to explain how much of a difference I didn't notice."
—Charlie, Nevada
